2023.07.222005年に創刊した海のライフスタイルマガジン『Sea Dream』誌は、おかげさまで18年が経過しました。その36号の巻頭を飾る記事は、世界の海を切り撮る海洋フォトジャーナリスト矢部洋一が、南海の楽園タヒチを取材。これまで見たことのない美しい写真で綴る、32ページにわたる大特集です。
On sale July 24! / Sea Dream No. 36 features “Tahiti, Paradise of the South Seas”
The latest issue of the “Sea Dream", a marine lifestyle magazine launched in 2005, is now on sale.
The opening article of the 36th issue features the South Sea paradise of Tahiti reported by marine photojournalist, Yoichi Yabe. It is a 32-page feature with never-before-seen beautiful photographs.

It talks about the fun international yacht race of the Pacific called "Tahiti Pearl Regatta", the super-luxurious private resort "The Brando" named after the reputed actor Marlon Brando, and other up-to-date information on Tahiti and the charms of the Polynesian islands.

シードリーム誌Vol.36の巻頭特集「南太平洋の珠玉の海に浸る」の取材では、国際線はNZL航空を使って夜遅くタヒチに入出国し、11日間の滞在の間にソシエテ諸島のライアテア島とテティアロア環礁、そしてツアモツ諸島のティケハウ環礁という3つの美しい離島を、プロペラ機を使って訪ねた。この中身濃く予定の詰まった旅の要となるホテルとしてタヒチ観光局の方が選んでくれたのは、ファアア国際空港から車で5分のインターコンチネンタル タヒチ リゾート＆スパだった。
For the feature article "Immersed in the Pearl of the South Pacific" in Sea Dream magazine Vol. 36, I flew in and out of Tahiti late at night on NZL Airways for an international flight, and visited three beautiful islands during my 11-day stay: Raiatea Island and Tetiaroa Atoll in the Societe Islands, and Tikehau Atoll in the Tuamotu Islands. The trip was packed with a lot of activities. The Tahiti Visitors Bureau selected the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa, a five-minute drive from Faa'a International Airport, as the key hotel for our jam-packed trip.
ここは首都パペエテの町にも近くきわめて利便な立地にありながら、喧噪とはほど遠く、静けさに包まれた、とても居心地の良いリゾートだ。旅の合間、合間にこのホテルに部屋を取って僅かずつでも充実した休息を取れたのはありがたかった。
ラグーンや庭園を望む224室の客室と22棟の水上バンガローは2020年に改装されたばかりで気持ちよい。２つのスイミングプールがあって（メインプールは大きく、しっかり泳げる）、客室やレストラン、バーと同様、プールサイドからも、モーレア島の素晴らしい景観を眼前に楽しめる。島にかかる雲の変化を眺めているだけでも、飽きることはないだろう。
レイアナという名の女性バーテンダーが作ってくれたブラッディマリーはスパイスが効いてことのほか美味しかった。このホテルが主催するホエールウォッチングツアー（8月～11月は毎日出発、3時間）は特に人気が高いと聞く。
快適で機能的な良いリゾートです。
Although the Intercontinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is conveniently located near the capital city of Pape'ete, it is a very cozy resort surrounded by tranquility and far from the hustle and bustle of the city. I was grateful to be able to get a room at this hotel in between trips and get a good rest, even if it was only for a short while.
The 224 rooms and 22 over-water bungalows overlooking the lagoon and gardens were newly renovated in 2020, and the two swimming pools (the main one is large and well maintained) offer stunning views of Moorea Island from the poolside as well as in the rooms, restaurant, and bar. You will never get tired of just watching the changing clouds over the island.
The bartender, a woman named Leiana, made me a delicious Bloody Mary with a hint of spice. I hear that the whale-watching tours organized by the hotel (departing daily from August to November, for 3 hours) are especially popular.
It is a fine resort, comfortable and functional.
